Citrus Noodles

Do you now why an orange is smart? Because it CONCENTRATES!

Vitamins, Carotenoids (antioxidants), Capsaicin (reduces the amount of "bad" cholesterol), Sulfur content and many more of these healthy benefits is definitely worth all of your time! I think preparing noodles with just the spice should be something of the medieval times. Who would imagine that a subtle taste of orange can make all the 'beautiful' differences. If you are an unorthodox eater then you'd appreciate this post from the bottom of your "stomach" (Everything is all about food over here).  For those of us who are wary about weight gain - we  really do not appreciate carbs. However, adding orange juice and also serving it in an orange "bowl" makes us feel less guilty by combining the consumption of Vitamin C and Carbohydrate. Not such a bad calorie intake day hence we'd run with it. May we observe one minute stare for this beautiful piece of stomach pleaser.....Citrus Noodles!!!



Meanwhile the noodles was like:




Ingredients 

  • 3 - 4 Oranges.
  • 1 - 2 packs of Ramen Noodles.
  • Medium onion
  • Half Slice of Red and Green Bell pepper.
  • 2 Tablespoons of olive oil.
  • 1 Teaspoon of grounded red pepper.
  • One handful of shredded carrots.
  •  Chilli powder for garnishing.
  • Parsley for garnishing 
  • One stock cube.
  • Simply organic herb mix (oregano, rosemary, and sage) or any affordable kind. 
  • Salt to taste (optional).


Prep: 
  • Properly wash both hands.
  • Cut 1/4 of the oranges and scoop out the inner part of it using a fruit scooper.


  • Using a lime squeezer, extract the orange juice and set aside in a clean cup.


  • Using a zester, extract the back of the orange and set aside

  • Measure out the condiments and place aside. 
Directions: Ramen Noodles
  • Place a medium sized pot on a low heat and add two and half cups of water. 
  • Allow to steam, add the noodles and cook for about 15mins. Do not let it overcook hence, watch closely. 
  • Once it is ready, place in a sieve to drain excess water and set it aside. 


Directions: Citrus Ramen Noodles
  • Set a medium sized pot on a low heat and add vegetable/olive oil. 
  • After 5 - 7 mins, gently add your finely chopped onion,chopped green and red bell peppers, red hot pepper, herb mix and orange zest and stock cube simultaneously, increase the heat a little and stir. cover for about 4mins and watch closely. 

  • Add the orange juice and stir for a minute, pour the noodles into the mix and stir slowly using a fork to avoid sticky noodles. 

  • Taste for seasoning and watch closely.
  • Cook for another 5 mins with continuous stir and your noodles is ready to be served!
  • Allow to cool a little prior to serving.


Serving: Citrus Ramen Noodles
  • Dish the noodles into the "orange bowl" and garnish using chilli pepper and parsley. 
  • Serve according to the number of guests present. 
  • Enjoy your Vitamin Carb... that's what I love to call it.
