Homemade Banana Ice Cream served in a Pineapple Bowl........ for an 89°C summer weather

Who else thinks eating Ice Cream relaxes the body? I absolutely do!! If you think otherwise try eating one on a very sunny afternoon and get back to me on how you felt afterwards. If "your" ice cream didn't meet my expectations then you definitely need to try this homemade banana ice cream and i'll be the reason for your first addiction.....a positive one at that (bananas)!!!.  This banana ice cream is made with fresh frozen bananas and a half glass of whole milk, plain yogurt can act as a substitute for milk. For my lactose intolerant foodies, I would advise you skip the milk/yogurt part and go for just WATER. This doesn't steal the delicious taste but only lessens the creamy nature which you would choose over running to the bathroom every second :).  Enough of the pep talk, now lets get down to business.

Total prep time : 20 mins
Level : Easy

Homemade Banana Ice Cream:

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup of frozen bananas
  • 2 -3 Strawberries
  • 1 medium pineapple
  • 1 cherry
  • Half banana for garnishing
  • Half glass of milk or 2 tbsp of plain yogurt

Pineapple Bowl:

Remember to chop off the flowers on the crown of the pineapple. I usually store some of it for future use. I might not know exactly what I need it for but something always comes up.

  • Wash and place the pineapple in an upright position.
  • Chop of 1/4 of the pineapple to create a lid.
  • Place your corer right in the middle and turn in a clockwise direction until a desired depth is reached.

Cored Pineapple

Note: It's your choice to cut off the core from the middle or just leave it alone.

Banana Ice Cream:

Directions:
  • Toss the frozen bananas into a food processor or a blender and blend. Add the half glass of milk or water to speed up the process and prevent your processor from overheating.  Scoop the sides occasionally to get a smooth mixture.
    •  You can defrost the bananas if its too frozen, just to speed up the process.

  • Pour this mixture into the pineapple bowl and prepare to garnish.
Garnishing
  • Slice the strawberries and banana into a circular shape.
  • Using a toothpick, attach the sliced fruits onto the body of the pineapple with the fruits facing inside.
  • Throw in one cherry just because life is never BORING with food!

Whenever you feel you are missing out on something each day, try this recipe and you'd realize a smile is been out of the picture all along.

Thank you for visiting today! I am humbled by your love :)

Extras:

4 mind boggling facts about pineapple.
  • It takes almost 3 years for a single pineapple to reach maturation.
  • Once harvested, pineapples don’t continue to ripen (It just changes color as time passes).
  • Besides fruit salads and tropical drinks, pineapples are also used to make wine (I'll try this)
  • Pineapple is also great for tenderizing meat (Because bromelain breaks down protein).
